The Old Vicarage
Interior refurbishment of a large property located on the edge of Richmond Park within a Conservation Area..
Our contemporary design approach to this listed property achieved clarity and balanced proportions. The quality of the space is achieved not only through good orientation and room proportions but also by a careful selection of noble materials, textures, colours, patterns, all under a balanced and integrated use of natural light. We introduced subdivisions and partitioning by means of Rimadesio screens which allow for the perception of the spaces beyond when the screens are closed.
Opening up a sequence of spaces linking the front garden and rear garden and develop a conservation approach for the front elevation incorporating an enclosed porch.
The enclosure of the porch was resolved with frameless anti reflection glass with hidden fixings in order to minimize the effect on the historic features. The introduction of this airlock is a significant improvement for heat loss and provides a useful and protected greeting space.
