Studio House

We did a contemporary refurbishment of this Edwardian House in Palewell Park, London, UK. We took a modern approach with fabrics and textures to enhance the acoustic performance of the social areas. Retrofitting insulation throughout to enhancement of the fabric of the building.

A low carbon strategy was applied from the inception of the project. Maximising natural light and combined with mechanical ventilation allowed the project to open to the exterior in a sustainable manner.We designed this house from the outside in applying the Japanese principle of Shakkei which is focused on incorporating the background landscape. The L shaped extension creates a secluded and protected terrace that becomes an alternative outdoor dining space as it can be fully integrated to the interior.
