Georgian Gate

The client tasked L+ Architects with designing a highly sustainable retrofit for a large, listed property. The focus was on reducing energy consumption and being environmentally friendly. To achieve this, the existing property required insulation to be retrofitted throughout. The extension of the property included a three-level side return extension that necessitated a completely new roof. The lower levels of the extension feature large glass surfaces. The basement is integrated with the ground floor level in terms of both form and function. The ground floor extension is made up of two glass volumes that create the impression of the existing house beyond. This clever illusion integrates the outside with the inside.
