We did a contemporary upgrade and enhancement of an early Victorian house Victorian house in a Conservation Area of Lambeth, London, UK. Retrofitting of interior thermal and acoustic insulation.

the brief was to design an extension for a family room and kitchen area, as well as utility and other support areas required for modern living. The integration with the outdoors is addressed mainly with the addition of terraces and large steps to resolve a steep gradient in the garden.

We specified natural materials with low requirement of maintenance. The character of the extended area is different to the rest of the house due to the natural difference in levels This allowed us more flexibility in our approach.
