Shou Sugi Ban House

For this contemporary extension on a listed Victorian House in Ham, London, we consolidated existing building work and improved the spatial efficiency whilst adhering to strict planning constraints. We created a ‘semi-basement’ for a more spacious kitchen and family area as well as designing a first-floor extension for an office with a balcony.

The palette of materials – charred timber, steel, and glass – creates a contemporary, natural character for the home. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame views of the garden to bring the outside in.
